Sara and Peter have
known each other since attending Big Foot High in Walworth, WI.
College sent them in different directions, Sara to UW-Madison and
Peter to St. Norbert in DePere, WI,
but they were able to stay in touch with each other during breaks
and periodic phone calls.
Distance made Peter’s heart grow fonder and he decided to make the
first move by sending Sara a letter
containing a
word search. The puzzle spelled out “I’d like to take you on a date please”.
It wasn’t
until eight months later when Sara invited Peter to be her ‘plus one’ to a
wedding
that they actually had their first date and in September 2008 where
they officially became a couple.
After three years of dating, Peter planned the perfect proposal.
In October 2011, he presented Sara
with an envelope containing a new word search with the words “will”
“you” “marry” “me”
and proceeded to hand Sara a candy box that included a ring.
Overjoyed, Sara said, “yes”!
Excited to share their engagement news, Peter and Sara immediately
headed to Peter’s parents’ house
where Sara was once again surprised to find both families waiting
to celebrate!
